Is there a way I can contact you? My great grandmother (Veva Brown) was murdered May 16, 1964 at the age of 69. She was strangled with her own stockings at the Rosslyn hotel in Los Angeles. This case has never been solved, but seems so similar to the Boston Strangler (just not in Boston!) Wondering if you have heard of this case and if you have any thoughts?

Ms. Kelly I read your book "The Boston Stranglers" and thought it was one of the best "true crime" books I ever read, right up there with the work of Vincent Bugliosi. I have recommended it to many of my friends when talk of the case is brought up. I grew up in Massachusetts and well remember the Strangler case as a boy and later news of DeSalvo during his time at MCI Bridgewater. The Boston Strangler case came a decade before the concept of a serial killer was understood. Forensic science had changed little since the late nineteeth century. It's obvious at least one murder was the work of premeditation with a clumsy attempt to copycat the Strangler's MO as printed in the Boston papers. If these crimes were commited today, serial killer profilers would have discounted the theory that the murders were linked at first glance. What a tragedy that further victims (as in the "Ann Arbor Murders", as you suggest) could have been saved if the 4 or 5 true murderers had been brought to justice. Thanks for writing a great book.
