Ruth Cavin, a beloved figure in New York publishing, died Sunday, January 9. She was an outstanding editor, perhaps the more remarkable for having begun her career at age 61, an age at which most people begin thinking of retirement. She started at Walker and Company in 1979, and moved to St. Martin's Press in 1988, where she stayed until last year, when failing health made it impossible for her to continue working.
What a trouper. Rest well, Ruth.
